Seven Essential Reasons Why You Need a Website (even when social media is FREE)
Why would you need a website when social media is free? Why would you want to have a website when you can promote your business for free? Why put the money and invest the time in creating your own website for your business? Have you asked yourself (or maybe a friend) these questions? I have came up with this list of seven essential reasons why you need a website.
Reason #1: Algorithm changes
Tons of business owners felt the great Facebook algorithm change a few years back, and it hasn’t gotten any easier since then. At any point, the platform you’re using could change it’s algorithm, making it nearly impossible for your fans to see your content (unless you want to spend money on ads). You need a solid foundation to work upon, and you need a website.
Reason #2: You own it
The reality is you don’t own anything you post on your social media and you can lose it at any minute! You could fall victim to having your Facebook or Instagram account deleted and lose all of your business or having to start over. OR you can be put in Facebook jail and it makes it harder to communicate with your audience.
Reason #3: You control the experience
With your website, you have 100% control over how your website looks and what the user experience is like. You can show off your style and personality (which is so much fun). You get to give potential clients an idea of you and what your biz is all about without them actually having to buy something from you.
Reason #4: Get those emails and grow your email list
You create a relevant freebie for your reader to enjoy, which will get the prospective customer into your email list, where you can market your products and services.
Reason #5: Tracking your traffic
You can track where your traffic is coming into your site from (so you know where to focus your energy at or your ad money), know what post are popular, and how your traffic is moving around your website.
Reason #6 Organic Traffic
To get a ton of traffic from your Facebook or Instagram you need to invest in a ton of money in ads — which can be like throwing your money into a fire if you don’t know how to do it correctly. You can also generate free leads to your website via SEO (search engine optimization). SEO can take some time to work, but once it does, you can get tons of traffic from Google for free. You need a website so you can create epic content that drives traffic from Google or Pinterest.
Reason #7: Credibility
Your website is your digital storefront. I don’t know about you, but if I am looking for a service or restaurant and the business doesn’t have a website, I’m more than likely to go somewhere else. Your website is your home where people can expect to find contact info, reviews, a list of products, pricing, and more. Social media doesn’t give your potential customers good enough idea of who you are or details on products or services.
Conclusion:
Social media is great, but if you want a thriving business, you will need to invest in a website.
Social media is a place where you build relationships with your audience BUT your website is your home base. This is where all the magic happens. This is where you will send your potential customers to find out more information about your business.
Your website is where you have 100% control over the look and feel, you can get prospective clients into your email list, have greater credibility, and generate free traffic.
